What Families Say

SK

Sumalee Kanchanaphon

Sukhumvit, Bangkok

After my father passed away, my mother and I were left with boxes of papers that none of us had ever really looked at. We didn't know where to start and the whole thing felt overwhelming. Pranom from Ancestree came to the house, sat with us and worked through everything very quietly and carefully. She never made us feel rushed. The folder system she set up is easy to follow and my mother actually opens it now without hesitating. A genuinely good experience during a hard time.

I used the Heritage Archive Service for a collection of photographs and documents going back to my grandparents. There were over 400 photographs and a mix of Thai and English papers. The team handled everything with obvious care and the archive they produced is genuinely impressive — well-labelled, logically structured and easy to navigate. My only small note is that the turnaround was about a week longer than the initial estimate, but they kept me informed throughout and the end result was worth it.

The family history workshop was something I had been thinking about for years but kept putting off. Siriporn made it very easy to actually sit down and start. The templates were clear and the prompts helped me remember things I hadn't thought about in years. I came away with a family tree I'm proud of and several pages of family notes I would never have written otherwise. Recommended for anyone who wants to capture their family story while it is still possible to do so.

Simple and clear from start to finish. I needed my family's papers sorted — there were property documents, old correspondence and various certificates mixed together in a drawer. The organising service did exactly what it described. The folder structure they used is sensible and the digital copies on the USB are well-labelled. Happy with the price and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

I used the heritage archive for a collection that included my grandmother's jewellery pieces, old photographs and some handwritten letters. The catalogue they prepared is lovely — each item described carefully with a photograph alongside it. It is the kind of thing that will be useful for my own children one day. I would have liked a slightly faster initial response to my first email, but once things were underway the communication was excellent throughout.

I attended the family history workshops with my wife after a family member suggested it. We were both a bit uncertain about how the sessions would feel — it can be strange to talk about personal history with someone you don't know. The Ancestree team was genuinely warm and the structure of the sessions helped us stay on track without it feeling clinical. We left with a family tree, some written notes and quite a few memories we had almost forgotten. Worth doing.

In Detail

Case Studies

Three families, three different situations — and how Ancestree helped each one.

The Challenge

A large family moving into a smaller home

A Thai family downsizing after their children moved out found three generations' worth of unsorted documents across two storage rooms — property papers, school certificates, medical records and personal correspondence, none of it organised.

The Approach

Document Organising over two sessions

Ancestree visited the family home, categorised the full collection, set up a clear folder system with labelled sections for each family member and document type, and prepared digital copies of key papers. A brief written guide was left with the family.

The Outcome

Confident move with paperwork in order

The family moved without stress about their documents. The mother noted she had located a document she had been trying to find for three years. The digital copies were saved to a cloud folder shared with all adult family members. Duration: two sessions over one week.

"I didn't think two sessions would be enough but it was. Everything is in the right place now and I know exactly where to look." — Ratchanee K., Chatuchak District

The Challenge

An ageing family member's stories going unrecorded

An adult daughter was concerned that her elderly father's memories and stories — spanning decades of life in Bangkok and the surrounding region — would be lost. The family had no structured way to begin capturing them.

The Approach

Four Family History Workshop sessions

The workshops were conducted at the family home across four sessions, working with both the father and the daughter. Each session used structured prompts focused on a different period or theme. Templates were completed, family tree entries recorded and notes made about significant personal objects.

The Outcome

A documented family history for future generations

The family left the process with a completed family tree, twenty-two pages of recorded family notes and a clear record of over thirty personal objects and their significance. The daughter described it as one of the most valuable things she had done for her family. Duration: four sessions over three weeks.

"My father talked about things he had never mentioned before. The prompts helped him. Now we have it all written down." — Siripan W., Nonthaburi

The Challenge

A collection of heirlooms with no record or context

An expatriate couple with roots in three different countries had accumulated a significant collection of family photographs, documents in multiple languages and personal heirlooms with no inventory or descriptions. They wanted a lasting archive before moving countries again.

The Approach

Heritage Archive Service with multilingual support

Over three and a half weeks, Ancestree catalogued and digitised over 600 photographs, scanned 140 documents and prepared written descriptions for 48 physical heirlooms. The resulting archive was structured in both English and Thai sections, with a bilingual master catalogue.

The Outcome

A comprehensive archive ahead of an international move

The couple moved with confidence, knowing their collection was documented. The archive was shared digitally with family members in three countries. The physical collection was returned in full with a receipt. They noted the service had achieved in weeks what they had been putting off for years. Duration: three and a half weeks.

"We kept saying we'd deal with it eventually. Ancestree helped us actually do it. The archive is something our children will have for the rest of their lives." — David & Chanya F., international move May 2026
