Our Story

How Ancestree began

Ancestree was founded in Bangkok by a small group of people who had each, at different points in their lives, faced the same quiet difficulty — trying to locate an important family document at exactly the moment it was needed, and finding only a shoebox of unsorted papers.

That experience is surprisingly common. Families accumulate papers over decades: property records, correspondence, certificates, photographs, handwritten notes. Without a clear system, these things drift. Some get lost. Others survive but become impossible to navigate.

We set up Ancestree to do something simple and practical: help families bring order to what they already have, and create a calm, lasting record of the things that matter most to them. Nothing more, nothing less.

Our Mission

What we are here to do

Our mission is to make family record-keeping accessible and straightforward for households across Bangkok and Thailand. We approach each family's situation with patience, discretion and genuine care — recognising that personal papers and family histories carry real emotional weight.

We keep our scope deliberately clear. We do not offer legal, financial or estate planning advice. What we do offer is thoughtful, administrative assistance: sorting, labelling, digitising and archiving, so that families have well-organised records they can rely on.

Gentle pace, no pressure at any stage

What Guides Us

Our Values

Care

Every item we handle is treated as if it belongs to our own family — because the feeling of holding a fragile, irreplaceable document is something we understand personally.

Discretion

Family papers are personal. We maintain strict confidentiality throughout every engagement and do not retain any copies after handover.

Clarity

We communicate plainly, price transparently and describe exactly what each service involves — no vague promises and no hidden expectations.

Continuity

The records we help organise and preserve are meant to outlast our involvement — structured to be useful for the generations that follow.

How We Work

Our Standards & Protocols

Careful procedures that protect your family's materials from the moment they are in our care until they are returned to you.

Confidentiality Agreement

Every member of our team signs a strict confidentiality agreement covering all client materials, family information and personal records encountered during any engagement.

Careful Physical Handling

Original documents and heirlooms are handled with cotton gloves where needed and stored in acid-free materials during the period they are with us, reducing any risk of deterioration.

No Retained Copies

All digital copies produced during our services are delivered directly to the client. We do not maintain or store any copies of your family's materials after the engagement concludes.

Clear Scope Documentation

Before any work begins, we provide a written outline of exactly what will be done, what the output will look like and what falls outside our scope — so there are no misunderstandings at any stage.

Regular Progress Updates

For multi-week engagements such as the Heritage Archive Service, we provide brief progress notes at agreed intervals so you always know where things stand.

Full Return of Originals

Every original document, photograph and item provided to us is returned in full at the end of the engagement, along with a receipt confirming what has been handed back.

Our Expertise

Document Organisation & Heritage Preservation in Bangkok

Many families across Bangkok hold decades of accumulated personal papers — everything from property correspondence and household records to old photographs, handwritten family letters and keepsakes passed down across generations. Keeping these materials in a meaningful order is something most households simply never have time to address.

Ancestree works with families to bring practical structure to this accumulated material. Our document organisation service follows a calm, systematic approach: reviewing what a family has, grouping similar materials together, creating clearly labelled folder systems — both physical and digital — and preparing everything in a form that makes sense to the family members who will use it.

For families interested in capturing their family story more broadly, our workshops provide a supported, structured environment for recording personal histories, sketching out family trees and noting down the significance of cherished possessions. These workshops are designed to be informational and reflective — not advisory. Everything produced belongs to the family and is framed around what they already know and value.

Our heritage archiving work takes a more comprehensive approach, covering digitisation of photographs and documents at high resolution, descriptive cataloguing of heirlooms and the creation of a lasting personal archive that families can continue to add to over time. The result is a well-organised collection that any family member can navigate, even if they were not present during the original archiving process.

Ancestree is based at 35 Ratchadaphisek Road in Bangkok's Din Daeng district and serves families throughout the Bangkok metropolitan area. We work with Thai families, expatriate households and anyone who would benefit from a calm, careful approach to personal records management.
